A festive spectacle is established
With music and poetry and chanting,
Vaishnav brothers and sisters are dancing!
As they dance, they trample their anger and pride
And they touch one another’s feet
Recognising the God in everyone.
They dance in a joyful din,
Their hearts and mouths resounding
In the joy of chanting the name of Vitthal.
The aged have gathered their scattered life,
And girded up their clothes; each one
Is stronger and younger than the other!
With markings of white clay,gopichandana,
A rosary of Tulasi, garlands on their necks,
They wander to the din of the Mrudunga:
It is an incomparable festival of joy!
The ones pursuing and wallowing in greed,
The ignorant men and women,
The Pandits, the learned, the Mahanubhava,
All are one with the sadhus and ascetics.
They have forgotten the ego of their varnas,
They have forgotten their caste;
All of them go to fall at the feet of Vitthal.
Untarnished attention, like soft, fresh cream,
Would draw water from a stone, like a spring!
The skies resounded with the cries of victory
The Vaishnavitewarriorshave won!
Says Tuka, they have made it easy to walk on the path,
For they have crossed the ocean of illusion!
